Happy Holidays and Merry Festivities! I have a big update for Penedex just in time to help you catalog all your new pens and inks that are currently under the tree, or festivus pole, or whever you store your gifts in the winter!

Your app island for misfit pens has some cool new features along with awesome refinements for both free and paid users. Keep reading if you want to get all the details, or just tap “Update” if you like surprises!

What’s New for Everyone

  • Added a counter in the Ink’d page to show the total number of days since a pen was inked up. You can turn this on/off in the settings.
  • Added Sort buttons in the Library and Wishlist (yes, a wishlist) to allow for more flexibility in how your library is displayed. More sorting options will be coming in future updates.
  • Added a Brand List to Settings so that you can edit your list of brands without going into the add pen/ink view.
  • Need a quicker way to judge your pens and inks? You can now rate the items in your collection with a star rating and use that rating to sort your library! This way you can always tell which pens and inks are your favorite!

What’s New for Subscribers

  • Added a wishlist to help you keep track of future acquisitions. By default, the wishlist is sorted in descending order by the date an item was added.
  • Added new icons! I have two festive icons just in time for the holidays. I have several other icons as well, let me know on twitter if you can figure out what the icons are referencing!

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed the sorting method for ink library, by deafult it now correctly sorts alphabetically by brand, and then by ink name.
  • Users can no longer save a brand with no characters.
  • iPad now opens to the Pen list by default, instead of a blank page.
  • Pen Detail boxes are now a consistent size when empty.
  • Fixed text wrapping for long names of pens and inks in the library view.

Penedex is an app built to easily keep track of your pen and ink collections. It also provides a simple way to keep track of what pens you currently have inked up. Penedex is built for iOS and iPad OS and allows you to quickly and easily manage your currently inked pens, identify which pens are ready for cleaning, and keep track of what pen and ink combinations you have used in the past. Organizing and cataloging your pen and ink collections has never been more straight forward!

  • Create pen, ink, and EDC entries using the + button.
  • Keep track of your pen and ink combinations in the EDC tab.
  • Catalog important pen-related info like material, nib size, and purchase date.
  • Quantify your ink’s unique characteristics such as dry time, sheen, saturation, and flow metrics.
  • Penedex will automatically keep track of how many times you’ve used a specific ink or pen.
  • After you’ve cataloged an active pen and ink combination, you can easily mark is as “needs cleaning” or “cleaned” with a long press on the corresponding EDC entry.
  • All your previously inked pens are stored in the History section of the Stats tab, along with some basic metrics about your library.

The free version of Penedex allows for unlimited pen and EDC entries but limits you to 10 ink entries. Unlimited ink entries, along with other great features, can be unlocked with a Pro subscription in the Settings page.

EDC

The EDC tab is where you can easily catalog a pen and ink combination. All of your combinations are organized by date and when it’s time to mark a pen as “ready for cleaning”, you can quickly do so with a long-press on that item. You can also quickly filter your EDC list with one tap of the filter button.

LIBRARY

The pen and ink libraries allow you to quickly add, edit, and view key details about your collections and find the right pen or ink at a glance. It even keeps track of how many times you’ve inked up a particular pen or ink. For pens you can store information like the nib size, material, and purchase date. For your ink collection, you can catalog information such as dry time, level of sheen, saturation, and shading. You can even use the color picker to save the exact color of your ink from a picture or screenshot!

STATS & HISTORY

The Stats tab allows you to view basic metrics about your collection. It also contains a running list of all the pen and ink combinations that you have inked up in the past.

If you choose to purchase Penedex Pro, payment will be charged to your iTunes account, and your account will be charged for renewal 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. Auto-renewal may be turned off at any time by going to your settings in the App Store after purchase.
